His Eminence Willem Jacobus Cardinal Eijk, MD PhD, STL, is Archbishop of Utrecht. He completed his medical studies with a MD. Degree in 1978. After his medical training, he began his specialization training in internal medicine, but, before completing his specialization, he switched to philosophical and theological studies, and was ordained a priest in 1985. He obtained a Ph.D. Degree with a dissertation on euthanasia from Leiden University in 1987. He obtained a second Doctorate from Saint Thomas Pontifical University in Rome, with a dissertation on genetic manipulation. He was created cardinal in 2012. He is a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life and President of the Foundation for Medical Ethics (The Netherlands).
The Reverend L.M.J Hendriks PhD, STD., is professor of philosophical ethics and moral theology and Vice Rector at the Major Seminary Rolduc in Kerkrade, the Netherlands. He was ordained a priest in 2002, and obtained a Doctorate from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family in Rome, with a dissertation on the structure of human action according to Thomas Aquinas.
J.A. Raymakers, MD., PhD., is a medical doctor. He is a retired specialist in internal medicine, who worked at University Medical Centre in Utrecht. From 2005 till 2019, he was the Secretary of the Foundation for Medical Ethics. He was a corresponding member of the Pontifical academy for Life from 2011-2017.
Prof. F.J. van Ittersum, MD., PhD., MSc, is a medical doctor, specialist in internal medicine an nephrology, epidemiologist, professor in nephrology, who works at Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam. He is a member of the Board of the Foundation for Medical Ethics and has been a corresponding member of the Pontifical Academy for Life since 2011. He is has been chairing the Dutch Network of Catholic Health Care Professionals since 2017 and has been the Secretary-General of the European Federation of the Catholic Medical Associations since 2021.
